This Christmas motet was originally set by Palestrina for SATB choir. Because of its very low volume, it would be impossible for a clavichord to accompany a choir, so we set up an imaginary soundsage where the clavichord is close and intimate with a wide stereo image, and four recorders (SATB) play the vocal parts a little farther away. Try wearing headphones and imagining yourself directing a quartet of recorders from the clavichord in a large chamber.
